From Reception to Customer Support – Cecilia’s Growth Journey

Cecilia’s journey at GlobalConnect began in reception and has since taken her through Sales Support, Carrier Growth, and into a key role within B2B Customer Support. Driven by curiosity, strong relationships, and the courage to take on new challenges, she has continued to grow while helping shape a brand-new team along the way.

What’s your GC story? Path, what roles etc.

I started at GC late 2022 in the reception with the Facility Management team. It was a great first role as it gave me the opportunity to really get to know GlobalConnect as a company and also the people working here.

After that, I applied for a role as sales support on the Carrier side and started to learn more about fiber. My time there was very meaningful and educational. I learned a lot about customer contact, agreements, and our products, but most of all about teamwork and internal communication.

With that in my backpack, I got the great opportunity to try out a role as a Junior Account Manager in a new department called Carrier Growth. It was a challenging and really fun experience. But I missed the feeling of helping our customers in the way I want to rather than focusing on selling to them.

Therefore, when I saw the opportunity to apply for a Customer Support role for a new team on the B2B side last year, I didn’t hesitate. I was the first one in the role and have been helping to shape and develop it step by step together with the team during 2025. It has been challenging, very rewarding, and super fun.

How have you worked to develop in GC?

Thanks to my start in the reception, where I built strong relationships and established contact with people across the company, I have been approached as a potential candidate for new openings, and I have actively applied for internal positions.

What has been your biggest challenge going into a new role?

When starting a new role, I often experience self-doubt and a feeling of not being fully confident in my own abilities at first. The biggest challenge for me has been to push through those thoughts, trust my skills, and believe in the value I bring to the role.

Any tips for others that want to develop?

Be curious and dare to try. Reach out and talk to colleagues in different departments, and don’t be afraid to take new steps. One of the best parts of developing is building new connections and gaining new experiences. Every role comes with its own lessons, and if something doesn’t work out, there is always another path to explore.
