What is your GC story?
I started working in Kristiansand with 1. line Customer Support for mobile and billing in 2006. After some years, I moved to Oslo and took on a role as delivery coordinator. Some of my first major projects included building IP VPN solutions for the Norwegian courts in connection with the 22. July court case, followed by work on the national emergency network (Nødnett). Over time, the role expanded, and I gradually moved into a Project Manager position.
I later worked as a Service Account Manager for large clients including Power, Norsk Helsenett (NHN), Nordic Choice etc. This was a role I also really enjoyed, as it allowed room for initiative, creativity, and continuous improvement, such as improving data quality to reduce incidents and create a stronger decision-making foundation.
Today, I work as a Tech Lead in Operations Management. It’s a cross-functional role where I contribute to product development from a service desk perspective, define and improve processes, and provide operational support across teams.
How have you worked on developing yourself within GC?
My development has been a mix of good timing and mindset, I think. I’m naturally curious, enjoy helping others, and tend to look for solutions that benefit both GC and the customers. That approach has opened doors to new opportunities for me.
I’ve also really grown up within GC, having started here at 19 years old with no formal education or prior experience. I’ve learned the business on the job and been a part of challenging times and big successes. For me, it’s never been about chasing a career title, but about continuously improving how we work and working together with good colleagues.
What has been your biggest challenge going into a new role?
I’ve been open to new opportunities and haven’t always analyzed roles too deeply before stepping into them. That has led to some steep learning curves and a bit of imposter syndrome in the beginning, but also significant growth.
Do you have any advice for others who want to grow within GC?
Be engaged and raise your hand. Take responsibility, even when tasks fall outside your formal role. Be willing to see things through, especially when it’s challenging.
For me, GC is a place where you grow professionally while also building strong relationships with colleagues you can truly rely on.
